Designing and developing virtual spaces and environments is a complex task. Right from the planning of the spaces to their setup and operation, the whole process requires close coordination of a number of interlinked disciplines, such as 3D modeling, programming, graphic and space design.
Trimensions does this through a flexible combination of in-house and remote collaborative paradigm. We have a core team of four people, and over 40 designers, planners, architects and collaborators worldwide, taking full advantage of the phenomenal power of very collaborative virtual interaction that we are marketing and selling as our core product. Rahul Dutta Rahul is the founder and owner of Trimensions, with over a decade of experience behind him, in both the virtual world and design paradigms. He is a professional consultant across a wide range of design fields, including automotive design and animation, and is a talented illustrator and writer as well. He has been running his own design studio since 2003, with clients like BBC World, Amul, CNN, Tata Motors, Pepsi Foods, ITC and Penguin Books, to name a few. Rahul is a graduate of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India. He has been actively involved in different areas of industrial and graphic design since 2001, as a specialized consultant and educator. He has been exploring virtual reality since 1997, as well as various aspects of robotics, automation and virtual world development. He has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Association of Virtual Worlds in the USA since 2008, and started an Indo-US venture called GoWeb3D in collaboration with Dave Elchoness, his business partner since 2008. GoWeb3D won the ‘Best Innovation’ Award for Educational Technology at the Software and Information Industry Association’s EdTech Business Forum in December 2008. Rahul has a passion for teaching and developing educational systems, and has been very active in both worlds in this field, as a visiting professor for a number of Indian colleges, and an educator and systems developer in VRML, 3DXplorer, OpenSim, Flash and Second Life. He is currently working on the seamless integration of the 2D and 3D web, bringing virtual spaces and applications to everyone’s desktop right from within their browsers, as well as a large-scale plan for the virtualization of educational institutions country-wide.
